Classes, attendance & makeups
The timetable runs itself, and attendance takes seconds
Set the weekly schedule once. Classes are created for you, registers are ready, and a cancelled class never quietly costs a student a lesson they paid for.
The problem
Nobody can agree on what a missed class is worth
A student misses a Tuesday. Did they lose the class, or do they get a makeup? What if the teacher cancelled? What if you cancelled for Diwali? Most academies decide this case by case, which means it is decided differently depending on who the parent asks — and that is where arguments start.
In detail
How it works
A timetable that generates the classes
Give a batch its weekly slots — day, time, duration, room, teacher — and Bilza creates the actual class occurrences from it. Change the timetable and future classes regenerate, while the ones already taught stay exactly as they were.
- Weekly slots per batch, with room and assigned teacher
- Classes generated ahead, each one a real record you can open
- Extra classes and one-off reschedules alongside the regular pattern
- Every class carries the branch timezone, so times are never off by a few hours
Attendance a teacher can mark in the room
The register for today opens with the right students already on it. A teacher marks present, absent or excused and it is saved — on the web, or on the phone in their pocket, even when the studio has no signal.
- Rosters kept in step with enrolments automatically
- Mark attendance from the mobile app, offline if needed — it syncs when signal returns
- A repeated submission is treated as the same one, so a flaky connection cannot double-mark anybody
- An edit window you control, after which only a manager can change a register
Entitlements and makeups, decided once
You set the rules for your academy, and they apply the same way every time. The rule that matters most is built in: a class the academy cancels never consumes a student’s entitlement.
- Decide whether an absence uses up a class, and whether an excused absence does
- Decide when a makeup credit is created — absence, excused absence, teacher cancellation, academy cancellation
- Makeup credits can expire after a number of days you choose
- Book a makeup into any suitable future class, and it is tracked to completion
- The rule in force is recorded on each register, so changing policy later never rewrites history
Substitutes and cancellations, recorded properly
When a teacher cannot take a class, you assign a substitute and the class carries both names. When a class is cancelled, the reason is recorded, and what that means for students and for teacher pay follows your rules rather than somebody’s memory.
- Substitute teacher recorded separately from the assigned one
- Cancellation reason and who cancelled it, kept on the record
- Cancellations feed makeup credits automatically where your policy says so

Questions people ask
What if we change a batch’s timing mid-term?
Change the slot and future classes are regenerated to match. Classes that have already happened keep their original time, their register and their attendance.
Is there an app for iPhone?
Not yet — the iPhone app is coming soon. The Android app is on Google Play today, and everything else works in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer.
Does the mobile app work without internet?
Yes for marking attendance, which is the thing teachers do in rooms with bad signal. The register is saved on the phone and sent as soon as there is a connection. If the same save is sent twice, the server treats it as one.
Can parents see attendance?
Not directly today — there is no parent login yet. You can send attendance-related messages to guardians, and teachers and staff see the full picture inside Bilza.
